Process

Learn about our process

You can rely on Pennine Playgrounds to work in partnership with you to deliver your objectives and provide expert knowledge, transparency, and creative solutions every step of the way.

Step 1 – Site Survey

Site survey is the first step to creating your new play area and it’s an important opportunity for you to provide us with insight into the aims of the project. In addition to surveying the site, our playground consultant will discuss your ideas and vision for the play area so that we can bring these to life during the playground design process.

We will guide you through the survey and design process, but it’s useful if you can think about the following before our visit:

  • What is your budget?
  • What space do you have available?
  • What is the intended age range?
  • What type of play value do you want?

Step 2 – Playground Design

Following site survey, we will produce a bespoke playground design for your play area. Many aspects need to be taken into consideration during the playground design process; this includes the existing landscape and environment, nearby housing, accessibility, and surfacing.

We have been designing innovative playgrounds since 1998. During that time, we have designed and installed thousands of play areas for clients in many different sectors. Whether your objective is to increase footfall, meet educational needs, provide durability, or simply pack as much play value as we can into your budget, our expert design team will work collaboratively with you to ensure your new playground design meets your requirements.

BS EN 1176 and BS EN 1177 are the standards that govern playground equipment, designs, and layouts. Our play area design team possess expert knowledge of these standards. This knowledge enables our designers to give our clients reliable advice on the feasibility of their projects and, ultimately, ensure safety for playground users.

Step 3 – Project Management & Playground Installation

Your project will be organised, planned, and coordinated by our office and field-based operations team. They manage all projects from confirmation stage through to pre-start, installation, and aftercare.

Play area installation will be carried out by one of our highly skilled and experienced in-house installation teams. All of our teams are trained beyond the industry standard, and our installation service is underpinned by CHAS and Constructionline, ensuring health and safety standards are maintained across all of our installations.

All our playground equipment installers are directly employed by us, and we do not use installation subcontractors. This means you can rest assured that your playground and playground equipment will comply with applicable safety requirements and can welcome children of all age groups with complete peace of mind.

Step 4 – Playground Inspection, Maintenance, and Aftercare

We are committed to providing all clients with the advice and knowledge required to look after their playground and ensure its longevity. Our aftercare service can be contacted by telephone or email and our team will promptly help you with enquiries, resolving problems, or ordering spare parts.

We also offer a variety of inspection and maintenance services – including inspection of playground equipment and play area maintenance – with intervals tailored to your specific site, your playground equipment, and the expected footfall.
