“The school is delighted with the new outdoor gym equipment we have acquired from Pennine Playgrounds. I had been lucky enough to witness the range we had chosen being used in Turkey on a summer holiday in 2008. The equipment was being used on a seafront by men, women and children. The equipment was well used and did not look like it could be vandalised or damaged due to it's bulkiness.

The equipment we decided to use was in specific consultation of the needs of the young people at our school. The school is a 4-19 Special School for children with Severe Learning Disabilities. The equipment chosen was to target those more ambulant individuals who did not get the opportunity to visit a gym (due to transport and time issues). The school currently has no large sports hall, gym facility or indoor gym equipment. We also wanted to use it for other groups of people with learning disabilities across the city who could feel safe and less conscious in our school environment.

The equipment has nine separate stations and has been situated in the upper school area so it is closer to those students who will access it on a regular basis.

The gym was installed in one day, the team arrived at 8:30 am and work was completed at 5:30 the same day. All work was carried out with a great deal of respect for the safety of the pupils who were at school during the day.

Overall the scheme has been a real success. The effective design and layout are such that the play, creative and physical development opportunities are now greatly enhanced. The children love working outside with the provision and now enjoy many different ways to learn and play everyday. Thank you!

The PIP system works very well. It gives opportunities to create a range of structures and spaces with different foci dependent on the learning intentions. The system is well made and easy to use and store.
