Although the risks are very low with our type of products, we recommend the following:

• Surfaces should be monitored by the client/maintenance packages for condition e.g. flaking and cracking paint
• Paint in poor condition should be carefully removed and structures stabilised and repainted with appropriate paint, subject to appropriate standards
• Awareness of the potential dangers of children sucking or biting painted surfaces or ingesting paint chips

There has been advice published in industry standards from 1986-1998: BS 5696, from 1998 to present: EN1176: Part 1; clauses 4.1.1. General and 4.1.6 Dangerous substances, which references Dangerous Substances Directive 76/769/EEC) to control lead in surface coatings to be well within recognised safe limits.
