Have you got a great idea for creating or improving facilities which get people active in your community? You need to know about this fantastic fund from Sport England.
What is the fund for?
The Community Asset Fund was launched in January 2017 and will run for five years. It has a value of £15 million per year and awards range from £1,000 to £150,000. The fund is open all year so you can apply whenever your project is ready instead of waiting for the next round to open for applications.
The aim is to create and improve facilities so that they benefit the communities they serve for many years. It also hopes to reduce grant dependency across the sports sector. Enhancing spaces in the local community and giving people the opportunity to be active are key factors behind the programme.
How is it different?
Sport England have made applying as quick and easy as possible after feedback was taken to see what puts people off the process. A broad range of organisations were consulted including those that had applied for funding before.
The initial application is a short online form and supporting information is only required if a decision is made to offer funding. Sport England also promise rapid decision making on a regular basis so you shouldn’t be kept waiting for an answer.
Who can apply?
Funding is available for all from schools and councils to community groups and sports clubs. Small groups will also be supported to ‘get a foot on the ladder’.
